The Memorial Book is an appendage to each branch history, showing the names and genealogical data of all persons of the respective branch who died during World War II or as a result thereof. A typical entry may read as follows: Ernst Gräber b. Osnabrück, Hannover 12 Sep 1919; son of Paul Gräber and Erna Tiemann; bp. Osnabrück 13 Nov 1932; ord. priest Bielefeld, Westfalen 8 Mar 1938; corporal; killed in battle in Tunisia 29 April 1942 [Source: Emma Gräber Mertelsmann]. [photo] All members of the Church who died of any cause are to be included in the Memorial Book. Many deaths occurred due to conditions of war, where the person would likely have survived in peacetime (lack of medical personnel, destroyed hospitals, poor sanitary conditions, etc.) Anyone having reliable information containing German and Austria Church members who did not survive the war is invited to contact us.
