Cartographer
Staff member: [to be hired as soon as funding becomes available]
The cartographer locates maps that may be copied and used to represent the location of branches, districts, and the two German missions in 1939. Those maps must have sufficient clarity and must be such that we may copy and use without copyright restrictions. Demographic details are collected by the cartographer, such as the 1939 populations of cities where LDS branches were located.
The LDS Church archivist for Germany agrees with Prof. Minert in the assumption that no official maps exist for the East and West German missions of 1939-1945. Our cartographer and Prof. Minert are re-constructing maps with emphasis on the natural and provincial borders of the era.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of a reliable map of either German mission for the time 1939-1945 is invited to contact Prof. Minert at 801-374-2583 or to send copies of such a map or maps to him at rpm@byu.edu. |
